Las Cruces, N.M. – Dona Ana County sheriff’s deputies will join forces with officers from the Las Cruces Police Department to flex their doughnut willpower and conquer their fear of heights in an event to raise money for the Law Enforcement Torch Run for Special Olympics New Mexico.

The Cop-on-Top fundraiser will take place from 7 a.m. to 1 p.m. April 25-26 at the Dunkin’ Donuts at 3835 E. Lohman in Las Cruces, according to a county news release.

This is the first time the event, which is trademarked by Special Olympics, will be held in Las Cruces.

Deputies and officers will take turns at their station on the rooftop of the doughnut shop to raise money and awareness for Special Olympics athletes around New Mexico.

Like the popular Tip-a-Cop fundraiser for the Law Enforcement Torch Run, the proceeds of Cop-on-Top will go directly to New Mexico Special Olympics athletes. Money raised helps offset costs to host Special Olympics events and for athletes to travel to events.
